Pinellas Sheriff’s Office Employee Choked Wife: Cops
An employee of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office was arrested in Largo after officials say he choked his wife.

LARGO, FL — The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of one of its own civilian employees following a Monday domestic dispute in Largo.
According to the sheriff’s office, Joshua Volz, 35, was charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of domestic battery by strangulation on Tuesday, July 18 following an investigation by the Largo Police Department.
Authorities say an argument broke out between Volz and his wife around 6 p.m. July 17 at their home in Largo. During the argument, “Volz struck and choked his wife,” an email from the sheriff’s office said. Volz’s wife, who is not being identified, suffered minor injuries to her face and head, the sheriff’s office reported in an email to media.

Volz was booked into the Pinellas County Jail following his arrest. He was hired by the sheriff’s office in October 2006 as a non-certified criminal justice specialist. He is assigned to the agency’s department of detention and corrections. His employment status following the arrest is unclear.
