Volunteers Sought For Pinellas 4-H Project Leaders
The next SPARK Academy free training certification program is set to begin in May.

LARGO, FL – The UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas County is looking for volunteers to help with its 4-H projects and curriculum.
Registration is now open for adult volunteers 18 years and older for the Extension Service’s SPARK Academy, a six-week course designed to train and certify new volunteers to become 4-H project leaders and curriculum facilitators.
The class of volunteers will attend training sessions on select dates in May and June for two hours. The curriculum is scheduled to include:

- Urban Agriculture/Gardening
- Financial Management
- The National Youth Science Day Experiment
- Leadership Development
- Environmental Science
- Food Science/Nutrition
On completion, volunteers will be certified 4-H project leaders and can begin teaching in schools, clubs and other organizations in Pinellas County. Participants will be required to complete an annual commitment of time volunteered in order to annually retain their certification.
The SPARK Academy courses are scheduled to start Thursday, May 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo. The remaining dates are scheduled for the following five Thursdays: May 25, June 1, June 8, June 15 and June 29.
