Blog Spotlight: Supreme Court Grapples With Gay Marriage

Gay marriage appears to be the latest issue polarizing Americans, according to Dr. Marc J. Yacht in his latest blog.

The issue has fallen into the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court after California's Proposition 8 overturned a recent ruling legalizing gay marriage under the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

Yacht believes the controversy has as much to do with money as with morality.

"Aside from the emotional satisfaction of being able to legally declare your significant other as a spouse, there are a myriad of legal issues involving transfer of estates after death, federal benefits and the sharing of job-related health benefits as an example as what is at stake for same-sex couples," he said.
