Dump Truck Overturns On I-75, Spilling Sand Across Highway

Two drivers escaped serious injuries when a dump truck swerved into the lane occupied by a Ford F250 towing a boat on Interstate 75.

PASCO COUNTY, FL β€” Two drivers escaped serious injuries Thursday when a dump truck swerved into the lane occupied by a Ford F250 towing a boat on Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 2:20 p.m., the dump truck and pickup truck were heading south on I-75 approaching Darby Road when the dump truck lost control and entered the pickup truck's lane, striking the rear left side of the boat.

The collision caused the dump truck to overturn and spill its load of sand onto the roadway. The crash closed portions of I-75 until 5:10 p.m.

The driver of the dump truck, a 27-year-old woman from Tampa, was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening. The 52-year-old man from St. Petersburg driving the pickup truck was uninjured.
