Ed Narain To Serve As Secretary Of Saint Leo University Board

The longtime Tampa leader and former state representative is giving back to his alma mater.

ST. LEO, FL β€” Tampa executive and former Florida legislator Edwin Narain has been named secretary of the board of trustees of his alma mater, Saint Leo University. He assumed the responsibility July 1, and the duration of the term is two years.

A leader in the Tampa community for more than 25 years, Narain earned two degrees from Saint Leoβ€”a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 2007 and a master of business administration degree in 2009. He has served on the university’s board since 2016. He also earned his Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law.

In 2014, Narain entered public service with his election to the Florida House of Representatives. There, he passed several important pieces of legislation including the Dozier School for Boys, Arthur Greene Jr. act and Research and Development Tax credit bill. As a freshman member, his peers selected him to chair the Florida Legislative Black Caucus. His legislative service earned him the Florida Association of Counties - County Champion Award (2015) and Legislative Appreciation Awards from the Florida League of Cities and Florida Boys and Girls Clubs (2016). He also was awarded two prestigious β€œDistinguished Advocate” awards from the Florida Chamber of Commerce and was named the Florida Society of Health Systems Pharmacists β€œLegislator of the Year.”

Narain’s commitment to the Tampa community extends to his job as vice president of External and Legislative Affairs with AT&T, where he is a three-time Florida Top Performance Manager of the Year (2009, 2010, and 2013) and has earned two AT&T Summit Awards for being among the company’s top achievers.

He is married to Monica, a public-school teacher, and together they have two young daughters.
