Hillsborough Deputy Faces Aggravated Battery Charges After Fight

According to the sheriff's office, Deputy James Linen got into an argument with another person in Wesley Chapel that escalated into a fight.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL β€” A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy is under arrest after getting into a physical fight with another person in Wesley Chapel Tuesday.

According to the sheriff's office, Deputy James Linen, 51, was walking along the 1500 block of Tallulah Terrace in Wesley Chapel when he got into an argument with another person, which escalated into a physical fight. The victim sustained several serious injuries.

Linen was arrested by the Pasco Sheriff's Office on Wednesday around 4:20 a.m. and was charged with one count of aggravated battery with serious injuries.

Linen works as a bailiff in the Hillsborough County Court Operations Division. He has worked at the sheriff's office since August 2005.

Linen has been suspended without pay pending the results of the criminal and administrative investigation.

"I expect every Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office employee to hold themselves to the highest standard of respectful conduct during work and after hours," said Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister.
