Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run Crash That Seriously Injured Motorcyclist

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol has made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries on Dec. 6.

According to troopers, at 8:36 p.m., a pickup truck was headed north on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at the same time a motorcycle ridden by a 21-year-old Wesley Chapel man was headed south.

At the intersection of Vanguard Street, the pickup truck turned left under a flashing yellow light into the path of the motorcyclist. The truck then continued and stopped at a nearby gas station where the truck and driver were captured on security cameras.

Troopers later arrested David Julian Weaver, 80, of Dade City and charged him with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries.
