Lutz Man Dies After Accident on Saturday

One man died and another was transported to the hospital after an accident on Dale Mabry Highway on Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

James Brake, 65, of Lutz, was traveling northbound on Dale Mabry in the inside lane about 100 feet south of Cheval Boulevard. At the same time, 26-year-old Sean Compton was headed southbound on Dale Mabry in the outside lane just south of Cheval when Brake crossed over the median into the path of his car.

The cars collided head on and rotated before coming to a rest. Brake suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Compton, a Clearwater resident, was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital.
