Snow Blankets Dade City As Snowcat Ridge Reopens For 2nd Season

DADE CITY, FL — The weather report calls for snow in Dade City ... well, part of Dade City, anyway.

Florida's first snow park, Snowcat Ridge, officially opened Wednesday for the 2021 season, its second year in operation and will remain open until March 27.

Located next to TreeHoppers Aerial Adventure Park at 27839 Saint Joe Road in Dade City, Snowcat Ridge is a one-of-a-kind snow park featuring a 400-foot-long snow tubing hill, 10,000-square-foot snow play dome, Alpine Village, and a music and light show each night.

New this year is the Crystal Ribbon, an outdoor ice-skating ribbon and beginner ice-skating oval, and the Eskimo Outpost featuring private party igloos available for rent.

Each general admission ticket includes all-day access to the Crystal Ribbon. Ice skates are not included, but may be rented separately or guests may bring their own. A general admission ticket is required for all guests 2 years old and older.

The Eskimo Outpost is available for birthday party, company event, special occasions or simply a family outing. Located adjacent to Snowy Slopes, it features eight private igloos that can accommodate up to 20 guests each.

Igloo rentals include:

• Private use of a festively decorated 500-square-foot igloo for 2.5 hours with indoor and outdoor seating.
• Private fire pit for roasting s'mores (which are available for purchase separately).
• Unlimited bottled water for all guests at Refreshers: Beer, Wine & Drinks, located in the Eskimo Outpost.

Snowcat Ridge also offers Florida natives a chance to go snow tubing without leaving the state.

Snowy Slopes is a 60-foot tall, 400-foot long snow tubing hill featuring single, tandem and family-style snow tubing. Riders are transported to the top of the hill using a pair of moving sidewalk conveyor lifts.

Snowy Slopes also features a nightly music and light show visible throughout the park.

The Arctic Igloo features a snow play area where kids can build a snowman or make snow angels and a bunny slope designed for kids 3 years old and younger.

At the Alpine Village, visitors can roast marshmallows around the fire pit and sample the offerings at the food truck court that includes Vato's Tacos, offering tacos, nachos, quesadillas, salads, French toast sticks, breakfast tacos, sausage and egg croissants and cinnamon rolls; Slices & Co. gourmet pizza; Oh My Grill! with gourmet burgers, pulled pork, chicken tenders and mac and cheese; and Sunkissed Sweets, serving gourmet pie and cake, Oreo-stuffed churros, ice cream and funnel cake fries.

The Alpine Village also features a biergarten with craft beers including seasonal brews, along with wine.

Coming soon is Decadent Drinks, featuring hot chocolate, Kahwa coffee, flavored lattes and brewed tea.
