Strong Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Tampa Bay

TAMPA BAY, FL — A strong thunderstorm is impacting portions of south central Pasco, north central Pinellas and northwestern Hillsborough Counties until 3:45 p.m.

At 1:42 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Keystone, or 8 miles west of Lutz. This storm was nearly stationary.

Then at 2:59 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Hillsborough River State Park, moving east at 5 mph.

Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 50 mph and quarter-size hail.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects, including cars, is possible.

Locations impacted include Thonotosassa, Plant City, Dover, Seffner, Mango, Lutz, Land O' Lakes, Keystone, Greater Northdale, Citrus Park, East Lake, Lake Magdalene, Oldsmar, Trinity, Westchase, Odessa, Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, Lake Fern and Cheval.
