3 Pounds Of Marijuana Confiscated In Early Morning Raid

Police and federal agents arrested a "significant supplier of marijuana" Wednesday in an early morning raid on two South Beach apartments.

MIAMI BEACH, FL β€” Police and federal agents arrested a "significant supplier of marijuana" Wednesday in an early morning raid on two South Beach apartments. Phillip A. Sanders was charged with multiple drug and gun offenses. Police recovered three pounds of marijuana and a handgun in the predawn operation.

"The subject was residing in Miami Beach under a false alias," explained Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department. "He is wanted in Indiana for methamphetamine trafficking, for which he has an open arrest warrant."

Rodriguez said Sanders was as one of the largest suppliers of marijuana along Ocean Drive.

Rodriguez said police also arrested a second person, identified as Nathan Davis. He was charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis. Police said Davis was homeless.

Miami Beach Special Investigations Section detectives, federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents and representatives of the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office executed the search warrants in the 1300 block of Alton Road.

Rodriguez said the 5 a.m. raid capped off a two-month investigation into drug trafficking that started on Ocean Drive.

"The main subject arrested today is a significant supplier of marijuana to the Ocean Drive area and is also known to sell cocaine and other illegal narcotics in South Beach," Rodriguez said.
