Good Samaritan Honored In Gay Pride Attack

City officials honored the Good Samaritan who rose to the defense of an openly gay couple at the recent Miami Beach Gay Pride event.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — City officials honored the Good Samaritan who rose to the defense of an openly gay couple during a brazen assault. The attack occurred in the final hours of the Miami Beach Gay Pride festival along iconic Ocean Drive. Miami Beach police later charged the four with aggravated battery.

“Helmut Muller Estrada valiantly defended complete strangers,” said Miami Beach Commissioner Michael Gongora in presenting a city medallion to Estrada.

City officials have said that the "overwhelming success" of the 10th anniversary of the the festival was overshadowed by the attack at 6 Street and Ocean Drive.

"In spite of this horrific incident, the silver lining was the Good Samaritan that stepped in to protect the couple that was being viciously battered," city officials explained.
