Miami Beach Police Officer Discharges Firearm
A Miami Beach police officer discharged his firearm while investigating a burglary Monday but the officer did not hit anyone.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A Miami Beach police officer discharged his firearm while he was investigating a burglary Monday but the officer did not hit anyone. The incident happened around 8 a.m. in the 1900 block of Marseilles Drive.
"During the course of the investigation the officer discharged his firearm. No one was struck as a result of the discharge," explained Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department. "A male and female have been arrested and we anticipate burglary charges are forthcoming," Rodriguez said.

It was not clear if the officer was aiming at one of the suspects or if the discharge was accidental. Rodriguez added that the officer was to be placed on paid leave per the department's policy.
"MBPD will be handling the investigation as there was no contact," Rodriguez explained. "No further info is currently available."
