Not-So Routine Traffic Stop Yields Marriage Proposal

So how did this young woman respond to this clearly memorable marriage proposal?

MIAMI BEACH, FL — This was anything but a routine traffic stop and it yielded an unconventional — but clearly memorable — marriage proposal in Miami Beach.

Unbeknownst to the female driver behind the wheel of the white Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, she hadn't actually committed any traffic infraction that would warrant being pulled over by Miami Beach police on Thursday evening.

So you can imagine her surprise when Miami Beach Police Officer O’Neal asked her and her boyfriend to step out of the vehicle amid flashing lights.

As the couple complied, the straight-faced officer prompted: "Is there anything that you want to say — that you got to say?"

The woman's boyfriend took a knee and pulled out a ring.

"I just want to know if you'll marry me," he asked almost sheepishly given the setting.

The bride-to-be was understandably confused, but probably impressed.

"Wow. I'm really like shaking from everything," she confessed.

As the police report will undoubtedly note, the female driver of the vehicle replied in the affirmative.

"Congratulations guys," the officer offered.

Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department told Patch that the unconventional suitor had stopped by police headquarters earlier on Thursday and set the wheels of justice in motion for his untraditional proposal.

"Kenneth walked into MBPD this evening and asked if we could help him propose to his girlfriend. Officer O’Neal called Sergeant Motola who said 'absolutely,'" explained Rodriguez. "The rest is in the video."
