Unmarked Miami Beach Police Car Stolen

One person was taken into custody and brought to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center after allegedly stealing a police car.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — One person was taken to the hospital Sunday night after allegedly stealing an unmarked Miami Beach police car and getting involved in a wreck. The car was taken from 17 Street and Washington Avenue. The crash occurred a few blocks away.

"The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and lost control at 13 Street and Meridian Avenue," according to Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department.

The incident occurred at 8:40 p.m.

Rodriguez said that one person was taken into custody and brought to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

"Thankfully, no civilians or officers were injured. More information will be provided when it becomes available," Rodriguez added.
