Truck Dumps 5,000 Pounds Of Bang Energy Drink Cans Onto Highway
A truck transporting Bang energy drink cans developed a mechanical problem and dumped its 5,000-pound load onto I-75 Thursday.
NEW TAMPA, FL -- It wasn't the Big Bang but Bang energy drinks certainly caused some turmoil for state troopers and early-morning commuters Thursday. Interstate 75 north of Fletcher Avenue was closed for more than four hours when a tractor-trailer truck transporting Bang energy drink cans dumped its 5,000-pound load onto the highway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 4:12 a.m. on May 23, Emmen Ahmed, 45, of Henrico, Virginia, was driving a 2012 Volvo tractor-trailer truck south on I-75 when a mechanical issue developed near the rear tandem axle.
The rear of the truck caught fire and, despite efforts by Ahmed, could not be contained. The fire spread throughout the truck, causing it to release the contents of the trailer, which contained new-but-empty Bang energy drink cans labeled purple guava pear and peach mango flavors.
