Update: Woman Carjacked in USF Parking Lot

University of South Florida Police are searching for a man who they say took the vehicle off campus.

Update (7:21 p.m.):
The University of South Florida Police Department said in a media release that it has been notified that the vehicle taken in the carjacking incident was recovered by in another county following a pursuit and crash by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. The person driving the vehicle, Vladimir Matushevskiy, was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff's Office and is being held in the Marion County Jail.

Earlier:
A woman was in her vehicle at the University of South Florida Monday when a man showed her a small black handgun and ordered her to get out.

USF Police said they received a report of the carjacking in Parking Lot 33 in the Health Sciences area of campus at 9:20 a.m. There were no injuries.

“Cell phone tracking determined that the suspect and vehicle immediately moved off campus,” police said in a media release. “Surrounding agencies were contacted and the Tampa Police Department aviation unit responded to assist in the search.”

Police are investigating the incident. The suspect is described as a male wearing a white hoodie, possibly with brown hair and "dirty" looking.
