Update:5-Year-Old Taken By Grandmother Found, Amber Alert Canceled

FLORIDA — A Florida Amber Alert issued for 5-year-old Jace Saunders, who was missing from Lake County, was canceled about 9:50 a.m. Monday, by state officials.

The boy was believed to have been taken by his grandmother, 50-year-old Kelly Day-Dasilva, Sunday afternoon. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the child was found safe in an update just before 10 a.m.

The pair were last seen in the 1000 block of Wells Avenue in Tavares, according to the alert. This is on the south side of Tavares in the area of Summerall Park, the Tavares Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. They were last seen at 1:19 p.m. Sunday.

An active Lake County warrant for kidnapping and interference of child custody has been issued for Day-Dasilva, police said.

Jace’s mother and father, Taylor Judy and Brandon Saunders, were arrested for interference of child custody, according to TPD.

“It is believed he was taken by family unlawfully during a (Department of Children & Families) investigation,” police said.

Jace is semi-verbial and autistic, police said. He has brown eyes and brown hair and stands about 3 feet tall.

The boy was wearing dark blue long pajamas with a graphic design on the front, pictured below, when he went missing.

Day-Dasilva is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

They may be traveling in a black Honda Accord or passenger car with an unknown tag, police said.

Those who see them are asked to not approach them and should contact law enforcement, according to the alert.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Day-Dasilva and her grandson can be submitted by calling police at 352-343-2101 and pressing option 4.

They can also contact 911 or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse at 1-888-356-4774.
