Brevard Restaurant COVID Closures + Disney Mask Rules Return

Here are the top stories in Orlando today:

1. Brevard County restaurants are closing after employees tested positive for COVID-19. At least 3 restaurants have recently closed due to infections as the Delta variant surges. (Click Orlando)

2. The money from the American Rescue Plan and COVID-19 state fiscal recovery funds will go to four ports throughout the state of Florida including Port Canaveral. Florida’s ports generate about$117.6 billion a year, employs nearly 900,000 workers, and badly needs the funds to finish halted projects. (WMFE)

3. Volusia County has brought back a face mask requirement for employees and is encouraging vaccinations as COVID-19 cases surge. Officials say Volusia County is a high transmission area for the virus and case numbers are spiking dramatically. (WFTV)

4. Starting today all Walt Disney World guests 2 and up will be required to wear masks while indoors and on Disney transportation including buses, the monorail, and the Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. (WESH)

5. Lewis Lin, who owns Sururu, is opening Susuru Juju this winter on East Colonial Drive. The new restaurant will have izakaya-style food including yakitori (chicken), kushiyaki (meats and veggies), yakizakana (fish), A5 wagyu, and other izakaya "soul food" items. (Orlando Weekly)
