Man Dies After Lightning Strike While Honeymooning On FL Beach
A Colorado man died after being struck by lightning while honeymooning in FL. Others were also struck by lightning in the state recently.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL — A Colorado man honeymooning in Florida died after being struck by lightning on New Smyrna Beach, according to multiple sources.
Jake Rosencranz, 29, was in ankle-deep water when he was hit by lightning Friday, WESH reported.
He was brought to the hospital in critical condition and died Saturday morning, according to News 6.

“So sorry for the tragic loss of a young man here on a delayed honeymoon with his wife. At 29 years old, he should have had many more anniversaries with her for years to come,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a Facebook post. “Sending sincere condolences to this young woman on behalf of all of us in Volusia County who were hoping against hope that the diligent efforts of our lifeguards, EMS team and ER staff would bring him back to her.”
Rosencranz's death was one of several lightning-strike injuries across the state recently.

In a separate incident on Friday, two people were struck by lightning while golfing at the Venetian Bay golf course, News 6 said.
And on Saturday afternoon, four women on a girls’ trip to Marco Island were knocked unconscious after being hit by lightning while standing under a tiki hut to avoid the storm, WFLX said.

“The rain started coming down. There was no thunder. So, I was just trying to take shelter until the rain subsided. We got under the tiki, and that’s when it happened,” one of the women said.
They commemorated the trip by getting matching tattoos.
One person was injured Monday afternoon when lightning hit a group under a cabana in Holmes Beach, Fox Weather said.
Six people were struck by the lightning and one was brought to a local hospital by ambulance with injuries.
