Here are the top stories today in Orlando:
- An Orlando City Hall security guard was violently attacked while on duty on Monday, Feb. 13. Orlando Police said the incident happened at around 2:40 a.m. and two suspects have been arrested by police in the incident. The security guard is unable to return to work due to the injuries suffered from the incident. (Bungalower)
- The family of a man shot and killed by Winter Park police during a wedding reception last February held a press conference about his death on Tuesday. "All they could see is a person of color they needed to take down," said the family attorney. The family attorney said City of Winter Park is refusing to release the names of the officers involved in the shooting or vital information about the man's death including the autopsy report. New actions will be announced in respond to the city by the family. (WESH)
- Former University of Central Florida (UCF) president Dr. John C. Hitt has died at age 82. Hitt helped lead UCF for 26 years and developed the school into one of the top universities in the United States. School enrollment tripled under his tenure at the university. (Click Orlando)
- "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith" temporarily closed on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Disney World's Hollywood Studios theme park to undergo renovations. Disney said on their website that attraction should return in summer 2023. (Fox 35 Orlando)
- Universal Parks & Resorts Chairman and CEO Mark Woodbury has finally officially confirmed that Super Nintendo World is coming to Universal Orlando, however the new park and the attaching Epic Universe is not planned to open in Orlando until 2025. Super Nintendo World recently opened in southern California. (Orlando Weekly)
