- Cold weather shelters opened throughout Central Florida on Friday as strong cold front approached the area. The shelters opened to anyone without heat. "The cold-weather shelter is a wonderful example of coordinated support in our community, bringing together local service agencies, the cities, and our county departments," health and human services director Joseph Hegedus said in a release. - Orlando International Airport (MCO) has been ranked as the worst airport for travel in 2022, according to Family Destinations Guide. The site said metrics include number of flights delayed in a year, flights on time, flights canceled, and how many flights each airport handled/facilitated. (Bungalower)
- The Economic Justice Clinic at FAMU College of Law is being setup in Orlando to help support small and minority-owned businesses, with support from Wells Fargo. There is an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the FAMU Law School in Orlando, Room 183. Those interested in help can call the clinic at 407-254-4000. (WESH)
- SpaceX is planning to launch the USSF-67 mission at Launchpad 39A from U.S. Space Force from Florida's Space Coast today, Jan. 14 at 5:55 p.m. EST. Forecasters predict an 80 to 90 percent chance of good conditions for liftoff today. If the weather does not cooperate, there is a backup date and time set for tomorrow. (Fox 35 Orlando)
- Texas-based restaurant chain Twin Peaks is planning to open four locations in Central Florida. Ricky Warman will be the franchisee for the four new restaurants in the area, according to a news release. Menu items include burgers, wings, tacos, soups, salads, ribs and more.
