Here are the top stories in Orlando today:
- Several Central Florida hospitals were ranked among the best in the United States. AdventHealth Orlando made the list at no. 183, while Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center came in at no. 310. The data included an "online survey from medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics, and a PROM (patient-reported outcome measures) implementation survey." - A shooting on Tuesday at Applebee’s in The Villages left a man dead after another shooting outdoors, according to authorities. The incident happened at around 1:15 a.m. at the Applebee's located at 1009 Bichara Blvd. in Lady Lake. The victim has not been identified yet by authorities and an investigation is underway. - The Pathway to Housing program, which helps Central Florida families purchase homes, is receiving federal attention and funding. The program matches what families have saved for a down payment on a home for up to $10,000. The Salvation Army is running the program and Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL) said more money could be heading to the program soon from the federal government. (WESH)
- Brightline is "officially the fastest train in Florida and the Southeastern United States," according to a news release and has broken new records for rail speed in Orlando. Trains reached speeds of 130 mph during recent tests in Central Florida, according to the high-speed rail company. (Bungalower)
- Canadian group Tegan and Sara will hit Central Florida this October at Hard Rock Live at the end of their North America band tour. The tour celebrates their newest album called Crybaby. Tickets will be available on Ticketmaster starting Friday, March 10. (Orlando Weekly)
