The Watermark at Vistawilla, an assisted living and memory care community in Winter Springs, celebrated the holiday season with a full month of holiday events – from live Christmas music to cookie decorating and more.

On December 21, the community hosted its annual Pancakes with Santa fundraiser. Residents and their families enjoyed breakfast with Santa with all proceeds supporting Watermark for Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids aged 6-22 overcome barriers and access life-enhancing opportunities. The event raised $250.

Cookie Decorating

Over the course of the month, residents had the opportunity to decorate gingerbread houses and Christmas cookies. Residents in the memory care neighborhood were joined by Latinos in Action from Winter Springs High School, who decorated cookies alongside residents. Memory care residents also had the opportunity to bake cookies as part of the Mom’s Kitchen program.

Live Christmas Music

From early December through New Year’s Eve, the community was filled with joyful music from local performers. The Silvertones Senior Choir and St. Mary’s Children’s Choir performed classic Christmas songs, Holiday Strings with The Wruck family from Lighthouse Baptist Church held a violin quartet performance, and Michael Mirand serenaded residents with The Sounds of Sinatra.

Christmas Eve service

On Christms Eve, The Watermark at Vistawilla hosted a Christmas Eve Nativity Service. During the service, several associates read parts of the Christmas story. Pastor Bob from Integrity Church also opened and closed the service in prayer.

Hannukah Luncheon

During Hannukah, the community hosted a blessing of the lights each day with a special Hannukah luncheon. Together, attendees said the traditional Menorah blessings.

Highlight on Jerusalem

Each month, the community features a country or city through their Passport Program. In December, the highlighted city was Jerusalem. Each week, residents could attend programs where they learned more about the city and could experience the sights, sounds and foods of the ancient city.

While the holidays have come to a close, engaging resident activities will continue at The Watermark at Vistawilla. Each month, the community plans a full calendar of events from group fitness classes to resident- and associate-led classes and extraordinary outings where residents can explore the local community and beyond.
