- Thousands of unionized Disney World employees in Orlando voted to approve a new union contract with Walt Disney World Wednesday. The agreement will raise worker pay from $15 to $18 an hour by the end of 2023. (Orlando Weekly)
- Main House Market Kombucha Bar in Winter Park has canceled its burlesque shows after officers received complaints of "nudity and lewdness" and investigated the business. Officers said the venue hosts "Drag Queen Trivia," as well as stand-up comedy shows, and a burlesque show called "Burlesque Love Scenes." No genitals were exposed in shows. Although the investigation found no wrongdoing, the business is now looking for a new location that is more inclusive than Winter Park. (Click Orlando)
- The sale of the historic Hungerford Property in Eatonville has fallen through after the Southern Poverty Law Center filed a complaint against Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). The potential sale was met with fierce resistance from the community. The lawsuit said OCPS violated the deed it was restricted to when it first got the land back in the 1950s. The deed restricted the use of land to the operation of a public school to educate Black children. (WESH)
- A Florida woman from Winter Park accused of putting her boyfriend in a suitcase and leaving him there to die in 2020 during an alleged game of hide-and-seek, attended her pretrial hearing on Friday in Orange County. She is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Jorge Torres Jr. (Fox 35 Orlando)
- Thornton Park Main Street is hosting its first ever "Cornament Cornhole Challenge" on April 8 at The Vernanda from noon to 4 p.m. The event costs $50 to enter and includes goodies and giveaways. There will also be food trucks, a full bar, raffles, and live entertainment. (Bungalower)
