
MIAMI, FL — Six people were injured late Sunday afternoon in a eight-car pileup on the Florida Turnpike in Miami-Dade County. One person had to be extricated from their vehicle, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The accident happened at SW 288 Street.
"Upon initial dispatch crews were advised that a patient was trapped inside one of the vehicles," Lt. Felipe Lay of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Patch on Sunday.
He said that first responders freed the victim.

"Treatment was rendered and the patient was quickly transported by ground rescue to the nearby trauma center," Lay said.
The other five victims were treated at the scene and taken to area hospitals by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel.
