Woman's Body Found At Palmetto Bay Golf Course

A body was found submerged in water along the Palmetto Bay Golf Course and Miami-Dade police believe it was that of a black woman.

PALMETTO BAY, FL — A body believed to be that of a black woman was found on the Palmetto Bay Golf Course Tuesday morning and Miami-Dade police were conducting a death investigation to determine a cause of death. Detective Argemis Colome of the Miami-Dade Police Department told Patch that the body was reported around 10:15 a.m. The golf course is located at 9300 SW 152 St.

"We don't know who it is yet," Colome said.

The body was found on the west side of the golf course behind a driving range, according to Miami-Dade police.

Detective Lee Cowart of the Miami-Dade Police Department said on Tuesday night that police were still awaiting the results of an autopsy.

He said that the body was found submerged in a canal that runs through the golf course.

"Miami-Dade Police Department divers had to remove the body from the water," Cowart explained, adding that the victim was pronounced dead by first responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Cowart said that he did not know how long the body had been in the water before it was discovered.
