Celebrate Earth Day In Palmetto Bay

If you live or work on planet earth Sunday is your day to celebrate.

PALMETTO BAY, FL — If you live or work on planet earth, Sunday is your day to celebrate. The village of Palmetto Bay will once again be holding the community's annual Earth Day celebration at Coral Reef Park. The fun runs from 1-4 p.m.

The activities take over the 77th Avenue entrance of the park. Here's what organizers have planned:

  • Discovery/nature walk and animal encounter
  • DJ and farmer's market
  • Pet adoptions by Miami-Dade County's H.O.P.E Express
  • Canal cleanup aboard kayaks
  • BMX demo course

Led by Palmetto Bay's own cycling guru and environmental advocate Eric Tullberg and Mayor Eugene Flinn, there will be a 5-mile escorted bike ride starting at 1:30 p.m. along the Old Cutler Bike Trail, which includes some of Palmetto Bay's most beautiful landmarks.

Bikers will return to Coral Reef Park by 2:15 pm so be sure to arrive on time. This event is recommended for children 10 years of age and older

You can register by clicking here. Helmets and bike locks are required for the ride. If biking is not your think the canal Kayak cleanup also begins at 1:30 p.m. Registration will take place at the park. A limited number of kayaks will be available so try to arrive early.

Participants with their own kayaks or paddle boards are invited to bring them to the park.
