Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Takes Wraps Off 2 New Trucks

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the wraps off two brand new fire vehicles at separate "push-in" ceremonies on Monday.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has taken the wraps off two brand new fire trucks. Platform 53 and Rescue 39 were inaugurated at separate "push-in" ceremonies on Monday. The new fire truck will serve South Turnpike South Fire Rescue Station 53 while the emergency medical vehicle will serve PortMiami.

"The push-in of a unit into service is a longstanding tradition in the fire service," explained Fire Chief Dave Downey of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

First responders literally push new vehicles into their bays to mark the occasion, according to Erika Benitez of Miami Fire Rescue.
