Mother Charged With Toddler's Murder

Nathaly Ramos allegedly stabbed her two-year-old toddler to death and attempted to take her own life and the life of her boyfriend.

HOMESTEAD, FL — A 22-year-old woman was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her two-year-old toddler to death and attempting to take her own life and the life of her boyfriend. Nathaly Ramos appeared in bond court on Monday, where she was ordered held without bail. Signs of her self-inflicted throat wound were evident.

When police arrived in the 28200 block of SW 124th Street they found "large amounts of blood on the floor," but Ramos and her baby boy had already left for the hospital with family members.

"So this is pretty sad," said Miami Judge Mindy S. Glazer. "She stabbed a baby to death and she stabbed someone else in her sleep."

Detective Robin Pinkard of the Miami-Dade Police Department said that someone called 9-1-1 on Sunday to report a suicidal female who stabbed herself and her child. The caller was later identified as the boyfriend's mother.

"The caller advised that the mother and child were being transported to Homestead Hospital by an unknown person," Pinkard said. "Upon the officer’s arrival at Homestead Hospital, the two year-old was pronounced deceased and his mother was listed in critical condition."

The child's father told Local 10 News that the couple had been separated.

"She was always just so loving. I feel like in my heart it's not true, it's not real," he told the television crew. "His mom wanted to separate and she kept him from me."

Pinkard said that the male victim, who was identified in court papers as Ramos' boyfriend, was taken to Jackson South Community Hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, where his condition was unknown on Monday.

Ramos' boyfriend told police on Sunday that he was "awakened this morning due to severe pain to his body. Upon becoming aware he observed his girlfriend, the defendant, with a knife and a taser," according to court documents.

"The defendant chased the surviving victim until he locked himself in a room and she fled the scene," court documents said. "After securing himself in the room he noticed that he had multiple stab wounds to his body."

Police said Ramos admitted to stabbing her boyfriend and then said she fled to her mother's house where she allegedly stabbed her child in the throat before attempting to kill herself. She was allegedly stopped by someone in her mother's home.
