Police Investigate Death Of 1-Year-Old Boy
A frantic 9-1-1 call summoned police to a home in Southwest Miami-Dade late Thursday morning after a child had stopped breathing.

MIAMI, FL — A frantic 9-1-1 call summoned police to a home in Southwest Miami-Dade late Thursday morning after a child had stopped breathing. By the time Miami-Dade police arrived at the home, it was already too late. The one-year-old boy had slipped away.
Now Miami-Dade police are attempting to find out what killed the child.
"Officers, along with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel arrived to the scene and the baby boy was pronounced deceased," explained Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

The incident occurred around 11:14 a.m. in the 12200 block of SW 217 Street.
Zabaleta said that homicide detectives are attempting to piece together what happened to the child who was not identified.

"Investigators are interviewing the baby's mother to gather all pertinent information," he explained. " The Medical Examiner was summoned to the scene to conduct an examination and determine the cause of death."
