Boy, 4, Pulled From Bottom of Swimming Pool, Officials Say

The boy was conscious and being flown to All Children's Hospital after he had been underwater for a few minutes, according to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue.

A 4-year-old boy was resuscitated after he was pulled from a Palm Harbor condominium complex swimming pool, authorities said Wednesday.

The boy is believed to have been underwater for a few minutes, Palm Harbor Fire Rescue spokesperson Liz Monforti said in a media release. The boy was purple in color when he was pulled out of the pool at the Cypress Falls at Palm Harbor condos, at 2480 Cypress Pond Rd., on Wednesday afternoon.

He was reportedly conscious and being transported via Bayflite to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, officials said.

The boy's aunt had been watching him and two or three other children who were sitting on the edge of the pool with their feet on the water, authorities said. "She said she turned her head for a moment and when she looked back the (4-year-old) was at the bottom of the pool," Monforti said.

The aunt pulled the boy out of the water, according to officials. A Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy who was in the area responded and started CPR before firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene and were able to resuscitate the boy.

Emergency responders are on the scene after a 4-year-old boy was reportedly pulled from the bottom of a Palm Harbor swimming pool Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Palm Harbor Fire Rescue responded to a report of a boy drowning at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Cypress Pond Road, according to a media release sent around 4:30 p.m.

Initial reports indicated the child was seen at the bottom of the pool.

Officials said the boy is conscious and is being flown to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
