Brotherly Dispute Led To Stabbing In Palm Harbor: Deputies

A 26-year-old Palm Harbor man was stabbed by his own brother Tuesday evening, Pinellas County deputies say.

PALM HARBOR, FL — A 26-year-old Palm Harbor man is recovering from a stab wound while his own brother faces criminal charges.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident that led to the arrest of 22-year-old Ryan Anderson began to unfold around 5 p.m. Dec. 20. Deputies say Ryan Anderson and his brother Richard Anderson got into a verbal dispute at a home in the 1300 block of Homestead Way.

When that fight was over, Richard Anderson fell asleep on the couch, an email from the agency said. While his brother was sleeping, Ryan is accused of getting a knife from the kitchen, walking up to his brother and stabbing him in the arm.

“The step-father, 57-year-old Michael Carr, was in another room of the house when he heard the commotion and came running out to the living room,” the email said. “Carr witnessed Ryan attacking Richard with the knife, at which time he disarmed Ryan, and held him until deputies arrived.”

Richard Anderson was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said. Ryan Anderson was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon with great bodily harm.
