Curlew Hills Memory Gardens To Host Virtual 9/11 Remembrance

Curlew Hills Memory Gardens will provide a twist to its annual 9/11 memorial ceremony Friday at 10 a.m. by making it virtual.

PALM HARBOR, FL — Curlew Hills Memory Gardens will provide a twist to its annual 9/11 memorial ceremony Friday at 10 a.m. by making it virtual to safeguard the community.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Curlew Hills at 1750 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, will host a live event on its Facebook page and website that will include keynote addresses by Florida CFO Jimmy Petronis and 9/11 survivor and rescuer Greg Amira.

  • The National Anthem by Sonya Bryson-Kirksey, retired member of the U.S. Air Force.
  • An unveiling of a new addition to the 9/11 Memorial
  • ·The announcement of the 9/11 Essay Contest Winner
  • Rescue and Recovery Memorial Update
  • Prayer by Milton Smith, chaplain of the Palm Harbor Fire Rescue
  • Honor guards from Palm Harbor Fire Rescue and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
  • A presentation of colors
  • A lighting of the memorial flame
  • The placing of the memorial wreath
  • The tolling of the bell

In addition to the 9/11 virtual ceremony, Curlew Hills Memory Gardens will once again have the huge twin beams of light at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens shining more than 1,000 feet in the sky each Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. to honor the heroes and victims of 9/11. As a beacon of remembrance, the giant twin beams are modeled after the two beams of light that shined in New York City following 9/11.
