Driver in Jail After Crash on Omaha Street

Robert Mistkowski, of Holiday, was in possession of pills when he crashed into a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office-owned car Friday night, according to investigators.

A resident of Holiday was arrested for possession of controlled substances after rear-ending a car owned by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office on Omaha Street in Palm Harbor on Friday night, causing minor injuries to its driver and a lane closure, according to Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Robert Mistkowski, 38, of 1238 Classic Drive, Holiday, struck the Ford Fusion driven by Jennifer Wilson, who serves in the Child Protection Investigations Division, with a 1997 Jeep Wrangler at Omaha Street and Alderman Road. Child Protection Investigation Division employees are unsworn members of the sheriff’s office.

Wilson had stopped at a red light on Omaha street around 7:38 p.m. as she was driving home with her 1-year-old son was in a child safety seat. Mistkowski’s Jeep struck her from behind, investigators say.  oth vehicles were traveling north.

Wilson was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries and then released.

Mistkowki was in possession of Oxycodone and Diazepam. He was arrested and charged with two felony counts possession of a controlled substance and booked into Pinellas County Jail. Late Saturday, charges of driving under the influence, DUI with property damage and DUI with personal injury were added to the list of Mistkowski's offenses.
