With hurricane season beginning June 1, Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation is helping residents prepare with a Hurricane Expo on Saturday, May 11 at The Centre, 1500 16th Street, Palm Harbor.

This free event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature information on storm preparedness as well as storm recovery.

The expansive expo is timely as it happens during National Hurricane Preparedness Week, which runs from May 5-11th.

Highlights of the Hurricane Expo include:

  • Denis Phillips – Chief Meteorologist from ABC Action News
  • Mike Boylan - Mike's Weather Page
  • The Hurricane Simulator – Jump in to experience 80 mph hurricane force winds
  • Sand Bags – Free sand bags and sand bagging demonstrations
  • Numerous Pinellas County Departments - On hand to speak about preparing for & responding to hurricanes
  • Over 35 Booths full of information, tips & give-aways
  • Lots of Door Prizes - Including generators, hurricane supply kits, chainsaws and more!
  • Rescue Equipment & Vehicles
