Man Kills Ex-Girlfriend’s Mom Before Shooting Self: Pinellas Sheriff

PALM HARBOR, FL — Deputies are investigating a murder-suicide in Palm Harbor after a 26-year-old man killed his ex-girlfriend’s mother before turning a gun on himself Tuesday morning, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Investigators responded to the Moreno Drive home around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call about a man and woman who had been shot there.

When deputies got to the home, they found Stacey McLean, 52, dead in a bedroom. Darryl Serraj was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a separate bedroom, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives learned that Serraj dated McClean’s daughter for about five years and their relationship recently ended.

He broke into McClean’s home Tuesday morning and killed her before taking his own life, the sheriff’s office said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The next of kin has been notified.
