Pop Stansell Park Begins Complete Bathroom Renovation

Pop Stansell Park bathrooms will undergo renovation beginning Monday, June 12, thanks to a Pinellas County grant.

PALM HARBOR, FL — The Pop Stansell Park bathrooms will undergo full renovation beginning June 12, thanks to Municipal Service Taxing unit grant from Pinellas County.

Renovations include a complete interior redo including new floors, fixtures and painting. The extensive make-over of both the men’s and women’s facilities is anticipated to be complete by June 30. Pop Stansell Park is located on the waterfront at 797 Florida Ave., Palm Harbor.

  • Complete gutting of both bathroom interiors
  • New tile flooring throughout
  • All new ADA-compliant sinks, toilets and fixtures
  • New LED light features throughout
  • Fresh new paint throughout
  • New electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems

“Pop Stansell Park is such a fun destination for families, especially during the summer,” said Trish Harrison, assistant director of Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation, who is managing the renovation. “Having brand-new restrooms will be a great addition and will certainly improve the overall experience for park visitors of all ages.”

Both bathrooms will experience some full or partial closure during renovation. Other facilities in the park, including the playground, will remain open without interruption.

The bathroom renovation is part of a broader plan of improvement for Pop Stansell Park. Also included was the exterior painting of the band shell facility completed in May and the upcoming renovation of the fishing pier, which is scheduled to be complete by the end of this year. The exterior painting and fishing pier renovation is being funded by Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation pperational budget.

Nestled on the quiet waters of Sutherland Bayou, Pop Stansell Park offers a covered band shell/entertainment stage, active playground, several picnic pavilions, open park space, kayak launch, fishing piers and a boat launch area which is open to non-motorized traffic.
