Star Student-Athlete: Palm Harbor Football Player Puts Team First

PALM HARBOR, FL — We all know student-athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Kelly J. Colagiovanni, a secretary at Palm Harbor University High School, who nominated Esther Paloma Breitling of Palm Harbor.

Colagiovanni said Esther holds her own playing defense on the male-dominated Junior Varsity Hurricanes tackle football team.

"Esther plays corner with determination," Colagiovanni said.

But it's Esther's positive attitude and encouragement of her fellow players that makes her stand out, Colagiovanni said.

"Ester is a positive and spiritual motivator," Colagiovanni said. "She believes in everyone's abilities."
