Here are the top three stories today in Panama City:

  1. Poland ultra runner Tomasz Drybala is making a stop in Panama City early next week as part of his mission to run in various parts of the world. Drybala is labeling this the "Mindful UltraRun" as he wants to positively influence as many people as he can while also raising money for at-risk children through UNICEF. Drybala will be participating in at least four different runs in Panama City from Mar. 27-30 and spoke about how he plans to spread his positive and mindful message along the way. (The Panama City News Herald)
  2. Comedian Rory Scovel will be visiting Panama City at the Captain Anderson's Event Center to kick off his comedy tour in the panhandle on Apr. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Scovel is popularly known for his roles in Paramount Picture's "Babylon" and "I Feel Pretty". Tickets are now available and can be purchased online here for $30. (WJHG)
  3. Police and officials in nearby Panama City Beach will increase law enforcement and institute new regulations ahead of this weekend in an effort to curb any issues during this year's spring break after the Mar. 25 through Mar. 27 weekend of last year saw a series of chaotic incidents. For example, from Friday, Mar. 24 at 8 a.m. to Monday, Mar. 27 at 4 a.m. there will be Special Event Zones throughout the area where fines will be doubled and minor traffic offenses can result in cars being impounded. The special laws for the weekend are in hopes of managing the spring break crowd and not repeating the events of last year in both Panama City Beach and Panama City, which resulted in one person being shot, more than 160 people arrested, and around 70 firearms seized.
