1. WSRE-TV Foundation files lawsuit to protect donor funds from Pensacola State College (weartv.com) — A Pensacola-based nonprofit supporting WSRE-TV has filed a federal lawsuit to keep its donor funds from being taken over by Pensacola State College after the college ended WSRE’s PBS affiliation. Foundation leaders say donors intended their gifts for public television programming and community services, not general college operations, and are exploring ways to keep WSRE independent.
   

2. Pensacola scraps contract to hire consultant for Baptist redevelopment (pnj.com) — Pensacola leaders have halted a $300,000 consulting contract to guide redevelopment of the old Baptist Hospital site after intense public opposition filled City Hall. Residents raised concerns about gentrification, displacement, and demographic change, prompting Councilman Delarian Wiggins to withdraw support and forcing city officials to reconsider how this pivotal west-side project will move forward.
   

3. Covenant Care Foundation grants $567K to Lakeview Center in Pensacola (wkrg.com) — Uninsured adults in Pensacola will continue accessing critical psychiatric care thanks to a $567,305 grant to Lakeview Center from Covenant Care Foundation. The funding supports three psychiatric nurse practitioners expected to serve nearly 2,800 people and provide over 9,000 treatment episodes a year, reinforcing the region’s mental health safety net for thousands of local residents and families.
   

4. Pensacola man sentenced to 5 years for cyberstalking, sending obscene materials to minors (weartv.com) — A 29-year-old Pensacola man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for cyberstalking and sending sexually explicit materials to multiple minor girls, following a multi-agency investigation across North Florida and South Alabama. Authorities say he used numerous social media accounts to contact victims as young as nine, ignored repeated demands to stop, and will face five years of supervised release with mandatory sex offender treatment after prison.
   

5. Man in country illegally pleads guilty to firearm possession (wkrg.com) — A man from El Salvador living in Pensacola has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm after deputies found shell casings and marijuana at his home. Prosecutors say he admitted firing a pistol from his truck while drinking, and now faces up to 15 years in prison before deportation, with sentencing set in Pensacola on March 10, 2026.
