Miami Infant Dies After Being Forgotten In Hot Car

A baby boy died on Wednesday after being forgotten in the back seat of a hot car.

KENDALL, FL β€” A baby boy died on Wednesday after being forgotten in the back seat of a hot car, according to Miami-Dade police. The child was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue where he was pronounced dead. The child was discovered shortly before 1 p.m. outside a business at 9540 SW 40 Street.

Detective Lee Cowart of the Miami-Dade Police Department identified the child's mother as 26-year-old Maidelmys Marcel Llaca of the 6000 block of SW 87 Avenue. Cowart said Llaca left her son in the backseat when she went to work inside the business.

"Ms. Llaca returned to her vehicle and discovered the infant unresponsive in the backseat," Cowart said.
