1,000 Backpacks To Be Given Away At Pinellas Back-To-School Event

The Pinellas Park Medical District's Back to School Family Fun Day, happening Saturday, Aug. 4, will help students prepare for school.

PINELLAS PARK, FL -- The Pinellas Park Medical District's Back to School Family Fun Day, happening Saturday, Aug. 4, will help prepare young residents for school starting soon in Pinellas County.

There will be a variety of health- and school-related vendors, door prizes, back-to-school giveaways including supplies and 1,000 backpacks (one per child, first-come, first-served), food by the Kiwanis Club of Pinellas Park, K9 demonstrations by the Pinellas Park Police Department and fun activities for the kids.

"We are excited to have exceeded our extremely ambitious goal to give away over 1,000 backpacks this year,” said Dr. Daniel Strauss, chairman of the medical district and dean at National University of Health Sciences. “This is a great example of the dedication of so many wonderful people coming together to help the families in our communities."

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Caruth Health Education Center, St. Petersburg College, 7200 66th St. N., Pinellas Park.

Four bikes will be raffled off – two at 11 a.m. and two at noon.

The event is made possible by these businesses and organizations: Assisting Hands Home Care, Grow Financial (Pinellas Park), Healthy Lifestyles of Tampa Bay, National University of Health Sciences , New Hope Auto & Truck Services, Pinellas Park Kiwanis Club, People Helping People, St. Petersburg College, Caruth Health Education Center and Target.
