3 Pinellas Beaches Make Tripadvisor's Best Beaches In U.S.

FLORIDA — It's no surprise that Pinellas county's beaches once again made Tripadvisor's 2022 "Best of the Best" list.

Out of the top 25 beaches in the United States, nine are in Florida and three in Pinellas County.

St. Pete Beach, named Tripadvisor's No. 1 beach in the U.S. and No. 5 beach in the world in 2021, fell to No. 22 in the Tripadvisor rankings this year. The lower ranking is a bit baffling for St. Pete Beach residents since St. Pete Beach has been among Tripadvisor's top 10 beaches since 2012 when it was again named No. 1.

Of the 5,219 people who reviewed the beach, 4,059 ranked it "excellent."

Clearwater Beach, which has been among Tripadvisor's top 25 beaches every year since 2013, was also knocked from the No. 1 spot it enjoyed in 2019, 2018 and 2016. This year, Clearwater Beach ranked No. 24.

Out of 12,639 reviews, 9,132 ranked the beach "excellent."

The big surprise was that Treasure Island Beach beat out its more well-known sister Pinellas beaches, ranking No. 19 in the country. Of the 2,111 people who reviewed it for the Tripadvisor, 1,593 ranked the beach "excellent."
