Animal Services Now Has Saturday Adoptions

What are you doing this weekend or next?

If you've been thinking about pet adoption, head to the Pinellas County Animal Services’ adoption center, which will now be open from 9 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of the month, starting Feb. 18. The extended hours are part of an effort to increase the number of pets being adopted at the shelter.

Volunteers are also expanding adoption opportunities at local retail pet stores on Saturdays.

On March 3, April 7 and May 5, volunteers will be at Pet Supermarket, 4445 East Bay Drive, Clearwater from 10 a.m. until noon.

On Feb. 11 and 25, March 10 and 24, April 14 and 28, and May 12 and 26,  volunteers will be at PetsMart, Largo Mall, 10500 Ulmerton Road, Largo from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Pinellas County Animal Services is located at 12450 Ulmerton Road in Largo. Normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the adoption center closing at 4:30 p.m.

The adoption center is also open the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon.

To reclaim a lost pet or drop off a pet, visit the shelter between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The facility is closed Sunday and holidays.
