Bad Weather Cancels Weekend Holiday Events In Pinellas County

Strong storms will bring heavy rains, possible flooding and gusty winds to FL this weekend, canceling a number of holiday and other events.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — With strong storms moving into the Tampa Bay area this weekend, bringing with them heavy rains, possible flooding and gusty winds, a number of holiday events and other happenings have been canceled.

The following events have been canceled or rescheduled this weekend:

  • Drive-Thru Toy Drive: The St. Petersburg Elks Lodge #1224 has canceled its Saturday drive-thru toy drive. All donated toys will be given to other charitable organizations distributing gifts to families in need.
  • Dunedin Goes Carting Christmas Parade: While no decisions have been made yet about Saturday’s Christmas Parade, Dunedin Goes Carting wrote in a Facebook post that it’s “not looking good as of right now.” If weather cancels the event, it won’t be rescheduled for an alternate date.
  • Florida Botanical Gardens: The Florida Botanical Gardens will be closed Saturday evening and the Holiday Lights in the Garden display won’t be open to the public.
  • Gulfport Indie Faire: The holiday edition of this monthly event, scheduled to take place Saturday evening in Gulfport, has been canceled because of inclement weather.
  • Holiday Harbor Nights at Folly Farm: The event will take place Thursday and Friday at Folly Farm in Safety Harbor. Saturday evening’s festivities have been canceled due to weather. Those attending can exchange their Saturday night tickets for Thursday or Friday or receive a refund.
  • Indian Rocks Beach Christmas Boat Parade: Scheduled for Saturday, this annual holiday boat parade has been canceled and won’t be rescheduled this year.
  • Largo Old Fashioned Christmas Parade: This event, scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled this year because of the impending severe weather. Next year’s event will take place Dec. 21, 2024.
  • New Rules Concert, Holiday Drive for CASA: The Saturday afternoon concert and holiday drive for CASA at the Hollander Hotel has been postponed, though a new date hasn’t been announced yet. Gift items for CASA can be dropped off in the hotel lobby through Christmas Eve.
  • Treasure Island Holiday Lighted Boat Parade: The boat parade has been rescheduled for Dec. 22, 6 p.m. The holiday celebration at Treasure Bay Golf & Tennis has also been moved to Dec. 22, 5 to 7:30 p.m.
