Can Things 'Turn Around' For Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary?
That's what one Patch reader wants to know. What's your take?

The recent financial troubles of Indian Shores' Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary has at least one Patch reader concerned.
Here's a comment , by reader Dorothy Bryan:Â
"...I know from recent news that the Seabird Sanctuary has been having problems with IRS and other issues. However the comfort and safety the birds there is a concern to me. How can we as a community give assistance to these birds. I used to visit there when I would visit from up north and when I lived on Indian Rocks Beach. The Sanctuary was beautiful then. I visited there in 2011 and felt bad for the birds and the workers. Many habitats and foliage around the habitats were covered with bird feces. The place reminded me of one of the bad nuring homes that I have visited and I wondered what the problem was....were they struggling as the Marine Aquarium was or was there another issue as I saw on the news? Still, we as a community have a responsibility to these birds. The Botannical Gardens, the Florida Aquarium, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium seem to be managed well. I challenge our community to see what can be done to give a better quality of life to these birds.that sometimes are injured because of us. Just food for thought. I do not a lot of money . I just know that twice I took birds there in the past and they were helped. Maybe things can turn around for the Seabird Sanctuary and instead of punishing poor management which happens in Healthcare and our own govt...instead of pointing fingers...whay not see how owners can be held more accountable so funds are used appropriately.
