Chronic Nuisance Law Coming to Redington Shores?

Town officials are considering an ordinance that would penalize landlords who habitually rent to problem tenants, the Beach Beacon reports. A simliar law took effect in Madeira Beach last year.

Redington Shores officials are considering a law that would penalize landlords who habitually rent to problem tenants, according to the Beach Beacon.

The ordinance imposes heavy fines and property liens on owners and managers who rent to tenants who commit a long list of nuisances, including "alcohol related offenses, prostitution, assault, theft, domestic violence, animal cruelty, rowdy parties, and various criminal activities," the Beacon reports.

Similar laws have been adopted in other cities, including nearby Madeira Beach. Redington Shores town officials said they would invite Madeira Beach's city manager to their Feb. 13 commission meeting to discuss the effects of the nuisance law there, according to the Beacon.
