Disaster Recovery Tips Offered to Small Businesses
The International Economic Development Council is offering free online courses with vital information for high risk disaster communities, like the beaches.

For small businesses on the beach, the IEDC’s series of webinars are useful and educational. The “Economic Recovery in Disaster-Impacted Communities” courses are free and open to the public. All business owners have to do is pre-register.
According to organizers, the courses will educate small business owners on “how to create and sustain economic recovery.” With hurricane season in full swing, the information could be vital if a disaster, like , hits the area.
There are a number of free courses to take part in, including:
- Financing Small Businesses to Spur Post-Disaster Recovery
- Financing Critical Infrastructure and Redevelopment Projects
- Initiatives to Protect Community Assets from Disaster
- How to Engage Your Small Businesses in Continuity Efforts
To attend the IEDC’s free webinar series, participants’ equipment must meet the following technological requirements:
Audio
- Using a telephone: A touch-tone telephone
- Using Desktop VoIP: A computer equipped with the following:
- -- a supported sound card
- -- speakers or headphones
- -- a microphone (for speaking during the conference)

According to the IEDC:
“Instructions and dial-in information will be sent up to three days in advance and a minimum of two times. If you do not receive an email from IEDC or GoToWebinar 24 hours prior to the start of the web seminar, it is your responsibility to email webinar@iedconline.org. No refunds or credits will be given for not receiving the dial-in information for the webinar.”
