Lizard Live to Scale the Heat
The Sirata's Third Annual Lizard Live event is scheduled for later this month. However, the ordinarily outdoor event will be held inside this year.

On August 24, the will host its third round of Lizard Live. The annual event will feature a silent auction, live music and a costume contest. Lizard Live is usually held outdoors near the iguanas, but this year organizers are switching it up and holding the event indoors.
Each year, the Sirata hosts the event and donates the proceeds to the Gulf Coast Iguana Sanctuary as well as another chosen charity. Pet Pal Animal Shelter, a no-kill rescue in St. Petersburg, is the beneficiary of choice for the 2012 Lizard Live event.
Another change for this year's event is the themed aspect. Gatsby and Gangsters is the era of the evening, channeling 1920's Al Capone-type style. Folks can bring their dogs and whichever pup is deemed the "best dressed" in their gangster attire will win a prize.
